We all have those stories we tell. Horrible childhood, unhappy marriage, difficult children and so on and so on. It's almost like you've perfected your elevator speech for your life story. Anyone who gets in front of you gets the story! I refer to it as, throwing up your life all over the unsuspecting. It's a release for you and possibly some sympathy from the listener. But, does it really help you to repeat the same story over and over again? No, not really! Chemically your body reacts to those memories as if it was in the present. You literally relive the moment. Why would you want to relive the trauma or an unhappy event??
Tell a different story! How? Look for the positive result. Don't tell that story at all, find something good to talk about. Stop replaying it in your mind? Human beings are the only living species to condemn themselves and others for eternity as a result of trauma, abuse or misunderstandings! The animal kingdom deals with it in the moment and moves on. The plants kill off the damaged area and grow in a different direction. Yet, we humans just keep re-living it and punishing ourselves! Most of the time, it's not even something you did, you're the victim. Can't let it go! Who are you punishing? Does the assailant suffer every time you tell that story or think it? Nope, you do!
It's time to see the light of who you are and who you can be! Let's talk! Maybe, a different perspective on your story can help you move forward and stop replaying the past!
