It's About the Journey, Not the Destination

I've heard the saying, 'It's about the journey, not the destination', at least three times in the last week. I know it's a message for me to slow down and see what's good in front of me. Instead, my thoughts are on the end goal. I've taken several road trips and missed all of the beautiful views because I was so focused on getting to my destination. I've created a business that brings me new experiences, but I miss the value because I just want to be successful right now.

We are always looking at what's next. This moment gets lost because, we think the next moment might be better. Life is about experiences, not the final goal, but the road we walked on to get to that goal. What if you don't succeed? Will you have wasted all that time? The purpose of the journey is to learn. Whether you succeed or fail isn't the point. It's what you gained from the path that lets you set a new journey into motion. For example, I opened a restaurant with the goal of being a successful restaurateur. It didn't happen! What did happen is, I opened a restaurant from nothing and made it beautiful. I made amazing tasting food. I met new people. I learned I didn't really want to be a restaurateur! All of those successes are within the path to the failed goal.

We can't predict the future. Experiences, people and time change the game of Life. So, why not go with the flow and see where the path takes you? Keep going and everything will come to you in perfect time. More than likely the thing you really want is on the path within the journey, not at the destination.

Love and light,

Kelli
